Classic Pie Dough
***Makes 2 Pie Crusts
2 and 1/2 Cups Flour
1 Tsp. Kosher Salt
6 Tbsp. Unsalted Butter, Cubed
3/4 Cup Vegetable Shortening
1/2 Cup Cold Water
-Mix flour and salt together in a large bowl
-Add shortening and butter
-With 2 forks, mash up the butter into tiny (pea-sized) bits
-Mix the ingredients best you can
-Add ice cubes to your water and let sit for 2 minutes
-Now, measure yourself a new 1/2 cup 1 Tbsp. at a time, add your water, stirring with a wooden spoon
***Don't add more water than is neccessary
-Once you reach a dough consistency or have many clumps, transfer to a floured surface and work your dough for a few minutes
-Form into a ball, and divide in half
-Flatten each dough to an inch thick, and wrap tightly with saran wrap refrigerating for 2+ hours
*****Buttery specks or small cubes are completely okay! that just mean more flakiness :)
